Nueva Generación RD policy promotes youth leadership in its first national forum
The New Generation Politics RD platform successfully held its first forum titled “Connecting to Lead: Youth, Politics, and New Leadership.” The event, which marked the organization’s third anniversary, took place at the Ricardo Michel Auditorium of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), bringing together a distinguished audience composed of students, professionals, and various social actors interested in the country’s political future.
This space was designed as a non-partisan platform with the central objective of making the role of Dominican youth visible, fostering the exchange of ideas and deep reflection on the impact of the new generations on national public life.
Dialogue on the political future
The academic and debate session was divided into two main thematic blocks. The “Youth and Politics” panel featured the perspectives of figures such as José Horacio Rodríguez, Sheila Brito, Omara Corporán, and Lenin Campos González, who analyzed the current challenges for the effective participation of young people in political organizations.
On the other hand, the panel focused on “New Leadership” allowed emerging profiles such as Wander Pulinario, Daniela Pool, Oniel Rodríguez, and Merfi Peguero to share their experiences on how innovation and technical capacity are transforming the way power is exercised in the Dominican Republic.
As a society, we have a pending commitment to our youth. For a long time, we have associated experience with age and leadership with seniority, but today we must recognize that preparation, talent, innovation, and capability are also forms of experience.

A commitment to the present
Marlenny Casanova, director of the platform, emphasized that it is imperative to break down the traditional barriers that limit young people’s access to decision-making roles. According to the director, youth should not be seen solely as the future, but as an active and necessary force to build immediate solutions to national problems.
Along the same lines, Judith Pérez, deputy director of the project, noted that this forum fulfilled the mission of generating critical conversations necessary for the strengthening of democracy. With this initiative, Política Nueva Generación RD reaffirms its purpose of continuing to be a bridge for dialogue, training, and participation for those who aspire to lead changes in Dominican society.
