National Police guarantees comprehensive medical assistance to Sergeant Major Marcos Frías Sánchez
The General Directorate of the National Police has taken immediate measures to ensure the health of Sergeant Major Marcos Frías Sánchez. Through the institution’s General Teaching Hospital (HOSGEDOPOL), an urgent assistance and comprehensive treatment protocol has been arranged to ensure the officer receives the medications and specialized care that his clinical condition requires.
Medical surgeon Colonel Juan Antonio Paredes, executive director of HOSGEDOPOL, reported that the case is under permanent monitoring following the direct guidelines of Major General Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz, head of the law enforcement institution.
We will provide the necessary support to guarantee the assistance required by Sergeant Major Frías Sánchez.

Colonel Paredes, accompanied by the institution’s spokesperson, Colonel Diego Pesqueira, visited the non-commissioned officer at the Plaza de la Salud, the center where he is currently receiving medical care, to personally supervise that the provisions for institutional support are being met.
Medical diagnostic details
According to the information shared by the authorities, the officer’s health status requires a specialized oncological approach following recent medical findings:
- On April 7th, the sergeant major underwent spinal surgery due to an L3 disc injury.
- During said procedure, a biopsy was performed which confirmed a diagnosis of malignant neoplasm in the left kidney.
- The diagnosis also revealed the presence of bone metastasis, which necessitates the immediate start of rigorous oncological treatment.
The National Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining constant support, both medical and human, providing all the necessary resources and supplies to facilitate the recovery of Sergeant Major Frías Sánchez during this critical stage of his treatment.
