MIVED seeks to expedite construction permits to 30 days with new technological tools
The Minister of Housing and Buildings (MIVED), Jean Luis Rodríguez, announced that the institution is in the final phase of an ambitious project designed to reduce the response time for the approval of construction permits. The main objective is for files that meet all technical requirements to receive a definitive response within a maximum period of 30 days.
During his speech at the First Punta Cana Forum, under the theme “Leadership, Dialogue and Vision”, the official emphasized his commitment to administrative efficiency and the modernization of state processes.

Innovation and transparency in the construction sector

Rodríguez highlighted that the results are already visible under the Zero Bureaucracy program. In 2026, the MIVED has processed nearly 1,100 licenses, which represents an increase of more than 75% compared to the 628 managed in 2025. This volume of work represents an estimated investment of RD$500 billion, boosting dynamism in the real estate and tourism sectors.
Housing commitment and national development
In addition to the streamlining of permits, the head of MIVED took stock of the Government’s housing policy. To date, approximately 15,000 homes have been delivered and more than 57,000 households have been intervened through the “Dominicana se Reconstruye” (Dominican Republic Rebuilds) program.
The official announced that the focus for the next stage will be to strengthen public-private partnerships to encourage the construction of low-cost housing, thus facilitating access to financing for more Dominican families.
“Development must translate into well-being for the people. Our responsibility is to create the conditions for investment to advance, for projects to be executed, and for more Dominican families to have access to decent housing,” Rodríguez pointed out as he concluded his remarks.
