Dominican government projects delivery of up to 2,000 homes before the end of the year
The Minister of Housing and Buildings (MIVED), Jean Luis Rodríguez, announced that the Government aims to deliver between 1,600 and 2,000 housing solutions during the last four months of this year. This effort is part of the national strategy to close the housing deficit gap and ensure that more Dominican families have access to a decent roof.
During his speech at LA Semanal con la Prensa, the official detailed that the institution maintains an intensive work pace focused on three pillars: accelerating the completion of ongoing projects, expanding the real estate supply, and eliminating bureaucratic barriers that slow down the development of the construction sector.
Boosting investment and new projects
Beyond the scheduled deliveries, MIVED plans to break ground for the construction of 2,600 new housing units in the same period. Rodriguez highlighted the positive impact of the current administration, noting that more than 15,000 homes have been delivered since the start of the administration, supported by a substantial increase in state subsidies.
The minister emphasized that state contributions have grown significantly, going from initial aid of 300,000 pesos per family to subsidies that currently reach one million pesos, facilitating access to private property.
The cost of housing is not exclusively inherent to the issue of wage increases in the construction sector, but also to the cost of land, materials, and other components.

Growth in permits and facilities for builders
One of the most significant achievements highlighted by Rodríguez is the simplification of procedures. The data reflect a considerable increase in sector activity:
- Approved permits: It went from 663 permits between January and August 2025 to 1,269 in the same period of 2026, almost doubling the figure.
- Private investment: The volume of investment associated with these projects grew from 166.977 billion pesos to nearly 460 billion pesos in the comparative period.
Public infrastructure: Health and Education
The work of MIVED is not limited to the housing sector, but encompasses works of great social impact. To date, the Ministry has delivered 24 health centers, including 13 hospitals and 11 diagnostic centers, adding some 1,300 hospital beds to the public system.
In the educational field, the entity has inaugurated extensions of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) in various provinces such as Baní, Azua, Hato Mayor, Santiago Rodríguez, Neiba, and Sánchez Ramírez, while continuing the construction of the campus in Santo Domingo Este, which is set to be the largest in the country.
With these actions, MIVED reaffirms its commitment to turning public investment into tangible results, prioritizing efficiency and transparency in every project executed for the well-being of the citizenry.
