The Mauricio Báez Club celebrates 63 years of legacy with a tribute to José “Boyón” Domínguez
Under the inspiring motto “Endless Principles!”, the great family of the Mauricio Báez Club commemorated its 63rd anniversary with its traditional breakfast. On this special occasion, the Villa Juana entity paid an emotional tribute to one of its most iconic figures: the immortal of Dominican sports, José “Boyón” Domínguez.
The distinction celebrates more than five decades of uninterrupted trajectory of Domínguez at the club. From his beginnings as an athlete in the children’s, youth, and senior categories, to his consolidation as a coach and current president, “Boyón” has become the ultimate benchmark of Maurician values.
To talk about Mauricio Báez for me is to talk about my life because I arrived here as a child. I am a Maurician and I carry it in my blood.

A pillar for the community
Beyond the basketball courts, the Mauricio Báez has established itself as a center for human and social development. Don Leo Corporán, founder and advisor of the institution, highlighted Domínguez’s selfless work, underscoring how his evolution from player to mentor has positively impacted generations of young people who are now prominent professionals.
Corporán pointed out that, although forging an institution of this caliber over 63 years has been a constant challenge, the key to success has resided in unity, collective work, and the unconditional dedication of its people.

During the meeting, César Amaury Heredia Guerra, a club executive, emphasized that the organization’s longevity would be meaningless if it did not maintain an unalterable ethical line. “Times, generations, and circumstances may change, but our principles cannot change,” he stated.

The event was attended by prominent figures from the sports, business, and military sectors, who joined in the joy of the Villa Juana community. Among the attendees were:
