Stable weather conditions and persistent heat in the Dominican Republic
The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (INDOMET) has reported that the national territory will experience mostly stable weather conditions over the coming days. The outlook will be dominated by hot temperatures and a low probability of significant precipitation across much of the country.
Following the rains recorded during Monday night in specific points of the northwest, such as Santiago Rodríguez, San Juan, Dajabón, Valverde, and Elías Piña, the agency expects rainfall activity to decrease considerably as the hours progress.
Forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday
For this Tuesday, skies are expected to have little cloud cover for most of the day. In Greater Santo Domingo, although weak and isolated showers could occur during the early morning and start of the morning due to the east-southeast wind, the rest of the day will remain under fair weather conditions. Towards the end of the afternoon, daytime heating could generate light showers in sectors of the Central Mountain Range.
The trend will remain similar for Wednesday, with a mostly dry environment. Only isolated showers are expected towards the border area and the northwest, without this posing significant risks to the population.
Recommendations for extreme heat
The presence of a slight concentration of Saharan dust will continue to affect the weather, which will keep temperatures high throughout the national territory. Given this scenario, Alofoke Deportes shares the recommendations issued by the meteorological authorities:
- Maintain constant hydration by consuming sufficient fluids.
- Wear light clothing, preferably in light colors.
- Avoid direct exposure to sunlight during peak radiation hours, between 11:00 in the morning and 4:00 in the afternoon.
Atmospheric conditions will remain stable. No phenomena that could generate risk situations for the public are anticipated in the short term.
