Tragedy in Ensanche Ozama: Man dies after collapsing on a public street
A man lost his life this Monday in the Ensanche Ozama sector, in Santo Domingo East, after suffering a sudden collapse while walking through the intersection of Jesús de Galíndez and Octavio Mejía Ricart streets. The victim was identified as Miguel Ángel Severino Jiménez, 72 years old, thanks to personal documents found among his belongings.
The incident caused dismay among the local residents, who were the first to alert the 9-1-1 National Emergency and Security Response System upon observing the citizen collapse while walking along the road.
Intervention of the authorities
After receiving the distress call, medical assistance units moved immediately to the scene. Despite the paramedics’ efforts, upon arriving at the site, they confirmed that Severino Jiménez no longer showed vital signs.
The competent authorities, including agents of the National Police and representatives of the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), arrived at the scene to proceed with the removal of the body and carry out the necessary legal procedures.
Cause of death under investigation
So far, the authorities have not issued an official report on the exact causes that led to the man’s death. It is expected that the results of subsequent forensic analyses will shed light on the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate event.
