Tragedy in Condado: 11-year-old minor drowns while on vacation
A regrettable event has shocked the tourist area of Condado, in San Juan, after the death of an 11-year-old minor, a resident of the state of New York, was confirmed, who lost his life by drowning in the pool of a residential complex.
According to the official report from the authorities, the incident occurred during Thursday afternoon. A call to the 9-1-1 Emergency System alerted security forces to a critical situation at the Del Mar Condominium, located on the busy Ashford Avenue.
Incident details
The family, who were spending a few days of rest on the island, experienced moments of anguish when the child’s mother realized that her son was submerged in the deep end of the pool. Immediately, the relatives proceeded to rescue the minor from the water.
The minor was rushed by his loved ones to the Emergency Room of a nearby hospital, where, unfortunately, the medical staff on duty certified his death as he showed no vital signs.

Following the report of the death, the competent authorities initiated the corresponding investigation protocol to clarify the details of this accident. The case has been assigned to Agent Erika Báez, of the Homicide Division of the San Juan Criminal Investigation Corps, under the supervision of Prosecutor José Villamarzo, who are working on the inquiry into this unfortunate event.
