Man sentenced to 20 years in prison for homicide in Manoguayabo
The Third Collegiate Court of Santo Domingo Oeste handed down a 20-year prison sentence against Arle Isaac Celado, after finding him responsible for the homicide of Romer Sánchez. The tragic event took place on April 26, 2025, in the Tanque Azul sector, located in Manoguayabo.
According to the details provided by the Public Prosecutor’s Office, the altercation originated from a previous conflict. The victim was talking to a third party when he mentioned that Celado had looked at him in a hostile manner the night before, so he decided to approach the aggressor to clarify the situation. Upon approaching, Celado reacted by attacking him with a bladed weapon.
Attack details and judicial process
The forensic report determined that the victim suffered critical sharp-force injuries to the neck and the left side, near the armpit. After the assault, the attacker fled, while Sánchez was taken to a health center where he ultimately lost his life due to the severity of the injuries.
During the trial, the Public Prosecutor’s Office presented compelling evidence to secure the conviction, highlighting the following elements:
- Autopsy report number SD-A-0609-2025, issued by the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (Inacif), which confirmed the cause of death.
- The classification of the crime under articles 295 and 304, paragraph II, of the Dominican Penal Code, which sanction voluntary homicide.
- The testimonies and evidence collected by prosecutors Francheska Alcántara and Brenda Reyes.
Magistrates Juan Pablo Ortiz Peguero, Nelcy Xiomara Ortega Ramírez, and Sandra Josefina Cruz Rosario, members of the court, ordered that the sentenced individual serve his sentence at the Najayo Men’s Correction and Rehabilitation Center (CCR), located in the province of San Cristóbal.
With this decision, the Dominican judicial system closes the case against Arle Isaac Celado, reaffirming the commitment to justice in the face of acts of violence that affect citizen security in the country.
