Tragedy in La Romana: Man dies after receiving electric shock in Villa Hermosa

A regrettable incident was recorded in the Piedra Linda sector, Villa Hermosa municipality, La Romana, where a man identified as Dariel de la Cruz Cruz lost his life after suffering a strong electric shock. The incident occurred while the victim was allegedly handling a wire from the second level of a commercial establishment located on 4th Street in said area.

Intervention by the authorities

After the incident was reported, forensic doctor Benito Kelly and prosecutor John Mota arrived at the scene of the tragedy, accompanied by officers from the National Police and agents from the Central Investigation Directorate (Dicrim). Likewise, units from the Villa Hermosa Fire Department and personnel from the 9-1-1 National Emergency and Security Attention System provided support to manage the scene and carry out the required legal protocols.

After completing the removal of the body, the authorities proceeded to hand it over to De la Cruz Cruz’s relatives so they may carry out the corresponding funeral rites.

Community impact and preventive measures

The incident not only claimed a human life, but also caused significant damage to the local electrical infrastructure, causing a temporary service interruption in a large part of the community. Faced with this unfortunate episode, Alofoke Deportes calls for citizen prudence:

  • Avoid direct handling of wires and improvised connections, particularly in elevated areas such as roofs or balconies near power lines.
  • Maintain a safe distance from any electrical failure that poses an imminent danger.
  • Always request the intervention of trained technical personnel for any irregularity in the power supply to prevent the risk of electrocution.
