José Ramiro López Obrador describes the cancellation of his nephew’s visa as a political matter
The recent decision by the United States government to revoke the visa of Andrés Manuel López Beltrán, son of the former president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, has generated a strong reaction in the Mexican political environment. José Ramiro López Obrador, Secretary of Government of Tabasco, has pointed out that this action is part of a strategy aimed at discrediting the figure of the former Mexican president.
During statements to local media, the official stressed that the main objective of this measure is not the former head of state’s son, but López Obrador himself. According to his perspective, it is a maneuver with a political background rather than an administrative or legal issue.

Defense of national sovereignty
José Ramiro López Obrador questioned the integrity of this measure, comparing it to the treatment received by previous administrations. The Secretary of Government emphasized that, under the current administration, Mexico maintains a stance of autonomy and sovereignty in the face of international pressures.

For his part, Andrés Manuel López Beltrán notified last Thursday, through a letter addressed to President Donald Trump, that the United States Department of State had revoked his entry permit to the country. In the document, dated August 13, he pointed directly to officials of the current U.S. administration for this determination.
In light of these events, the President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has expressed her support, describing the U.S. government’s action as an act of political interference, reaffirming that the decision lacks technical grounds and responds solely to external political interests.
