LIDOM takes a technological leap: Automated balls and strikes system implemented
The Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) is preparing for a significant transformation in its game dynamics. Vitelio Mejía, president of the entity, officially announced that starting this Friday, the automated balls and strikes system (ABS) will be implemented in the winter tournament games. This measure reaffirms the league’s commitment to innovation and the pursuit of greater precision on the field.
During the presentation of the Banreservas Cup and the advertising campaign for the 2026-2027 season, Mejía emphasized that the integration of this technology is key to modernizing the championship and improving the flow of the matches, providing a more balanced experience for both the players and the fans.
Digitization and new administrative standards
Beyond improvements in officiating, the league administration has prioritized operational efficiency. In this regard, the full digitization of team rosters has been implemented. The main objective of this advancement is to optimize administrative management and prevent any type of irregularity or technical confusion that could affect the development of the competition, as occurred in previous years.
The incorporation of technological tools is fundamental to raising the level of our baseball and ensuring that every decision on the field is accurate and transparent.

International expansion: The project in Miami is still on
Another topic that captured attention during the announcement was the internationalization of the league. Mejía confirmed that the project of bringing official LIDOM games to the city of Miami remains part of the organization’s roadmap. Although the executive was emphatic in pointing out that a concrete date for these matches has not yet been set, the intention to expand the Dominican baseball brand into U.S. territory remains valid as a strategic future goal.
