Tigres del Licey begin preparation for the 2026-27 LIDOM season
The Tigres del Licey have set their machinery in motion ahead of the upcoming season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). The blue team began their official training at the Baseball City facilities, located in Boca Chica, with the presence of key figures who will seek to lead the team to the top of the tournament.
The first day featured the integration of experienced players and emerging talents, highlighting the presence of Ramón Hernández, Andretty Cordero, and star pitcher César Valdez. These athletes arrive with the goal of strengthening the team’s structure from the first day of preseason.
Proven talent in the field
Ramón Hernández joins the camp following an outstanding performance in the Mexican Baseball League with the Acereros de Monclova, where he led the Dominicans in that circuit with an impressive .351 batting average. Meanwhile, Andretty Cordero arrives after a solid season where he combined power and contact, accumulating nine home runs and 51 runs batted in.
In the pitching corps, César Valdez’s veteran presence brings security to the staff. The right-hander, who saw action with the Leones de Yucatán and the Dorados de Chihuahua during the summer, demonstrated his usual control by recording 57 strikeouts and issuing just 10 walks in a little over 72 innings of work.
Technical staff and planning
The welcome to the group was led by Audo Vicente, vice president of operations and general manager of the organization, who emphasized the need to maintain discipline and a competitive focus from the start. The training sessions are being coordinated by Carlos Lugo, who leads an experienced coaching staff composed of figures such as José Umbría, Fidel Peña, Alexis Candelario, Manny Aybar, Silvestre Campusano, César Cabral, and Vladimir Pérez.

- Ulises Joaquín, Michael Feliz, José Cisnero, and Darlin Pinales.
- Yordanny Monegro, Carlos Contreras, Michael Arias, and Luis Beltrán.
- Jean Muñoz, Oliver Ortega, Jordy Martínez, Estarlyn Ortiz, and Elniery García.
Regarding the position players, infielders Yerald Nin and Orelvis Martínez were integrated, along with outfielders Abraham Núñez, Luis Castillo, and Luis Barrera.
LIDOM Debut
The 2026-27 Dominican Winter League season will raise the curtain on October 16. The Tigres del Licey have marked on their calendar a high-intensity opening duel against the Leones del Escogido at the Estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal, with the first pitch scheduled for 7:15 at night.
