Key move in LIDOM: Leones del Escogido acquire Dinelson Lamet
The Leones del Escogido have made an official strategic move in their pitching staff ahead of the upcoming Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) season. The capital city team finalized the acquisition of right-handed pitcher Dinelson Lamet from the Águilas Cibaeñas in a trade that sent left-handed reliever Génesis Cabrera to the Santiago team.
Lamet, 34, a native of Santiago de los Caballeros, brings a valuable seven-year career in Major League Baseball. His time in the best baseball in the world includes stints with the San Diego Padres, Colorado Rockies, Boston Red Sox, and Los Angeles Dodgers, recording a 4.63 ERA and accumulating 474 strikeouts in 367.2 innings pitched.
Experience and versatility for the scarlet pitching staff
The pitcher joins the red squad after standing out in the Mexican Baseball League with El Águila de Veracruz, where over the last two seasons he tallied eight wins and an impressive 136 strikeouts in 137.1 innings, holding opposing batters to a .240 batting average.
With the acquisition of Lamet, we add an experienced pitcher with an impact arm and the ability to help us in different roles. Génesis is also an excellent pitcher whom we value highly, but we understood that this trade strengthens us and aligns with what we are looking to build on our team.

A renewed and ambitious Escogido
In their quest to conquer a new title, the scarlet organization has maintained constant activity in free agency and the trade market. Among the most notable moves to strengthen their roster are:

With this structure, the Leones del Escogido prepare for the start of the 2026-27 season, scheduled for October 16. The debut will be a high-intensity duel at the Quisqueya Juan Marichal Stadium, where they will host the Tigres del Licey.
