Danilo Medina outlines the PLD’s path toward the 2028 elections from Barahona
The former President of the Republic and current leader of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Danilo Medina, has sent a forceful message to the grassroots of his political organization. During an assembly held at the Villa Olímpica in Villa Central, in the province of Barahona, Medina urged the membership to intensify electoral efforts with the firm purpose of returning to power in the year 2028.
The former president highlighted that the PLD is in a process of internal strengthening, which, in his view, prepares the party to compete once again for the Presidency of the Republic. According to Medina, the party structure is ready to undertake a recruitment and organization effort that will allow it to displace the current ruling party.
Criticism of current management
During his speech, Medina was emphatic in questioning the results of the administration led by the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM). The opposition leader maintained that, after the time they have been in charge of the State, the current Government lacks new proposals and effective solutions for the citizenry.
Do not expect anything more from this government, its time to act has run out.

The former head of state reminded those present that there are 23 months left in the current administration’s term, a period that, in his view, the PLD must strategically leverage to consolidate its territorial structure and prepare a competitive proposal that manages to connect with the needs of the population ahead of the next general elections.
Strengthening the militancy
The assembly in Barahona also served as a stage to welcome new members to the purple ranks, consolidating growth in the southern part of the country. With the call to prioritize the electoral agenda, Medina seeks to maintain constant political activism at all levels of the party, ensuring that the goal of regaining the Presidency is the central objective driving the organization in this new political cycle.
