Lenin Núñez’s defense claims their client did not cause the death of Emmanuel Contreras
The case surrounding the death of Emmanuel Contreras Medina has taken a turn following the statements of Dianniris Perderaux, the lawyer representing Lenin Jhericop Núñez de León. The defense maintains that their client is innocent of the homicide charges brought against him, arguing that the 23-year-old was the victim of a collective assault in which multiple individuals participated.
According to the version presented by the lawyer, the incident originated from a misunderstanding related to a mobile phone that was the subject of a negotiation. Perderaux detailed that, believing Contreras was attempting to steal the device, a group of people attacked him, wrongly labeling him as a thief.

Details regarding participation and the legal process
The defense emphasized the following key points regarding their client’s situation:
- Denial of authorship: The lawyer insisted that Núñez did not use the object with which the victim suffered the fatal injuries.
- Disassociation from the environment: It was argued that Lenin did not reside in the sector where the event occurred nor did he know the other participants in the brawl.
- Mutual aggression: Perderaux pointed out that his client was also attacked during the altercation, a factor that, in his view, must be considered by the judicial authorities.
- Regarding the trip abroad: Regarding Núñez’s departure from the country after the event, the defense clarified that there was no legal impediment to travel, since his client was previously listed as a victim in a fraud case.
Currently, Lenin Jhericop Núñez de León has voluntarily returned to the Dominican Republic to make himself available to the Public Prosecutor’s Office. For their part, the authorities are keeping the investigation open to clarify the facts and determine the level of responsibility of each of those involved in the assault that culminated in the death of Emmanuel Contreras, who passed away after remaining in a coma for several days.
