Relatives of young barber demand justice after fatal shooting in Villa Duarte
Consternation and pain overwhelm the residents of the Calero sector, in Villa Duarte, following the death of Brian Ferneli Montilla Rodríguez, affectionately nicknamed “El Alemán” (The German), who lost his life during an armed confrontation that took place last Wednesday at midnight.
According to the testimony of Eduardo Montilla, the brother of the deceased, the origin of the tragedy dates back to a conflict that arose a month ago. The altercation reportedly began over a debt of 1,500 pesos and material damage caused to a scooter, involving an individual identified by the alias “La Mala.” Although both sustained minor injuries in a previous brawl, the victim’s family asserts that the incident appeared to have been left behind.
Attack details
According to the relatives’ version, the aggressor returned to the sector accompanied by two other people with the intention of attacking Montilla Rodríguez. Witnesses point out that the individuals loitered around the barbershop where the victim worked, spraying pepper spray before the fatal outcome occurred.
He was heading toward them to speak peacefully, to ask what was going on, and they didn’t let him get there. They immediately opened fire and killed him.

In the shooting, one of the alleged attackers was also killed, having been shot down by an associate of the victim, a member of the National Police, while attempting to repel the aggression. The family maintains that the attack involved three people: one who died at the scene, another who is in police custody, and a third who remains a fugitive from justice.
Call to the authorities
The family’s lawyer, Carlos Calcaño Vargas, has formally requested that the competent authorities deepen the investigations to ensure that all those responsible face the pertinent legal consequences.
