Jeremy Rhoades will be the starting pitcher for the Leones del Escogido at the start of the LIDOM
The Leones del Escogido have defined their strategy for the highly anticipated opening clash of the 2026-2027 season of the Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM). Right-handed pitcher Jeremy Rhoades has been selected by the coaching staff to take the mound this Friday at 7:15 PM against the Tigres del Licey at the Estadio Quisqueya Juan Marichal.
The decision was confirmed by the scarlet leader, Ramón Santiago, who highlighted the quality and experience of the American pitcher. Rhoades arrives in the country after an outstanding performance with the Olmecas de Tabasco in the Mexican Baseball League, where he posted solid numbers that support his designation as the main arm of the red rotation.
Rhoades was an extraordinary pitcher with the Olmecas de Tabasco. He has multiple pitches that can do damage. I believe he is someone who has the capacity to assume that number one role with us.

Team trajectory and expectations
The 33-year-old right-hander is no stranger to Dominican winter baseball. In his previous stint in the league, wearing the Águilas Cibaeñas uniform during the 2018-2019 campaign, he demonstrated great command by recording a 1.38 ERA in 13 innings. In his recent foray into Mexico, he compiled a 7-4 record, with a 3.54 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 89 innings of work.
For this season, the Lions’ goal is clear: to seek a third consecutive championship. Santiago acknowledges the difficulty of the goal, but trusts in the team’s structure and talent to maintain the necessary consistency.

Finally, Santiago extended an invitation to the scarlet fanbase to attend the stadium, stressing that the support of the public is vital fuel for the players. When the fans fill the stands, the team raises its level of play, concluded the manager.
