Medusa case hearing postponed: New date for the proceedings against Jean Alain Rodríguez
The Second Collegiate Court of the National District has officially rescheduled the court hearing involving former Attorney General Jean Alain Rodríguez and the other individuals implicated in the administrative corruption case known as Medusa. The session, which was scheduled for this Wednesday, has been moved to September 14th.
The main objective of this legal session was to continue the debate on the motions filed by the defense teams of six of the accused, who have formally requested the dismissal of the criminal action against them.
Reasons for the postponement
The court’s decision to postpone the proceedings is exclusively due to force majeure related to the health of the defendant Altagracia Guillén. According to the reports submitted, the defendant suffered medical complications that prevented the continuation of the hearing.
It is not the first time that the defendant has presented health problems during the course of the proceedings. On a previous occasion, the same situation forced an emergency transfer to a medical center, interrupting the start of her legal defense’s arguments.
Next steps in the case
With the calendar readjusted, the court will resume its functions on September 14, the date on which the analysis of pending incidents is expected to be resumed. The key points that will mark the restart of activities are as follows:
- Continuity in the presentation of arguments by the defense teams of the six defendants requesting the dismissal of criminal charges.
- Follow-up on the judicial process against Jean Alain Rodríguez and the others involved in the corruption network.
- Resolution of the arguments presented by all parties in court.
Alofoke Deportes will maintain constant monitoring of the details of this judicial process as the review of the files progresses in the Dominican courts.
