Janser Martínez demands greater support for the agricultural sector and environmental protection in Peralta
Political leader Janser Martínez, who was a candidate for mayor of Peralta for the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) in the last 2024 municipal elections, has raised his voice to demand a more forceful push toward agricultural productivity and the safeguarding of natural resources in his municipality. Through a public statement, Martínez emphasized that the development of the area requires measures that transcend rhetoric and translate into tangible results.
For the leader, the rescue of the countryside and the protection of soils, mountains, and water sources depend on a solid institutional will, backed by clear budgets and constant technical assistance. Martínez stressed that the success of any initiative must be measured by the real impact on farmers’ incomes and not just by the delivery of equipment or supplies.
Questioning institutional management
Although he acknowledged the efforts made by the Special Fund for Agricultural Development (FEDA) with the delivery of plants and tools, the former candidate pointed out a critical lack of follow-up on these projects. According to his analysis, it is imperative to evaluate the effectiveness of this aid to ensure that it truly contributes to the growth of local production.
In relation to other entities, the leader addressed the following points:
- INDESUR: Urged the management of necessary funds to reactivate a project of vital importance for Peralta that remains stalled due to budgetary limitations.
- UTEPDA: Expressed concerns regarding the actual scope of the programs in the Las Cañitas project and requested greater transparency regarding investments and direct beneficiaries in the communities.
- Peralta City Council: Called on the local administration to take a more active role in urban and rural planning, integrating environmental conservation into its management policies.
Peralta’s challenge does not consist solely of receiving plants and tools, but of ensuring that public programs produce sustainable improvements for farmers and contribute to preserving natural resources.

Proposal for a comprehensive agenda
As a roadmap, Martínez proposed the creation of an inter-institutional working group involving the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Environment, FEDA, UTEPDA, INDESUR, and the Peralta City Council. The objective is to establish a precise diagnosis of needs, assign clear responsibilities, define execution deadlines, and publish performance indicators that allow citizens to verify progress.
Finally, the politician invoked compliance with current regulations, such as laws 176-07 on municipal management, 64-00 on the environment, and 44-18 on payments for environmental services, seeking thereby that investments in the agricultural sector translate into direct well-being for the producing families of the region.
