Masud Pezeshkian asserts that Iran will overcome tensions with the United States
In the framework of the recent Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit held in Kyrgyzstan, the President of Iran, Masoud Pezeshkian, held a key meeting with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin. During the meeting, the Iranian leader was firm in declaring that his nation will emerge victorious in the current diplomatic and political confrontation it is maintaining with the United States.
Pezeshkian described Washington’s actions against the Islamic Republic as unjustifiable, noting that the attacks and sanctions imposed contradict the discourse of defending democracy and human rights that the White House promotes.
Requirement for compliance and multilateral cooperation
The Iranian president recalled the validity of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between both countries last June. In this regard, he emphasized that Tehran is willing to resume compliance with its commitments as long as the United States does the same and respects the agreed-upon obligations.
If the United States returns to compliance with the obligations included in the memorandum, then we will also respect them.

To cope with economic pressure, Iran is betting on strengthening its relations within the SCO. Pezeshkian highlighted that multilateral cooperation is the strategic path to neutralize the unilateral sanctions imposed by Washington. In this sense, the Iranian leader thanked Moscow for its constant support in international forums such as the United Nations (UN).
Russia’s support for the Iranian position
For his part, Vladimir Putin reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to Iran, highlighting the country’s resilience in the face of current difficulties. The Russian leader stressed that his administration will continue to provide the necessary support to protect Iranian national interests.
