Rains will persist in the Dominican Republic: Forecast and active alerts
The weather outlook in the Dominican Republic will remain unstable over the next 48 hours. According to reports from Alofoke Deportes, moderate to heavy downpours are expected, accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts, mainly affecting the Cibao, Northeast, Eastern plains, Southeast, Greater Santo Domingo, and Central Mountain Range regions.
Forecaster Claudio Amparo detailed that this rainy activity is the product of various atmospheric factors that favor the development of cloudiness, with the greatest intensity concentrated from the afternoon hours until dawn.
Alerts and vulnerable zones
Given the soil saturation and precipitation forecasts, authorities have raised the meteorological alert level for Greater Santo Domingo and San Cristóbal, warning of the latent risk of urban flooding. Citizens residing in vulnerable areas are advised to stay updated with official reports to prevent any eventualities.
Today and tomorrow the rains will continue, mainly in the afternoon hours, and they are expected to increase starting Friday.

Weekend forecast
While this Thursday will begin with a mostly sunny environment, daytime heating and a trough in the upper atmospheric levels will give way to heavy downpours during the afternoon. However, the most complex scenario is shaping up for the start of the weekend:
- Friday: Rains will begin from the early hours of the morning, initially affecting the national coastline, including Greater Santo Domingo.
- Saturday and Sunday: A significant increase in instability is expected, with the possibility of thunderstorms, wind gusts, and even hail in localized areas.
Maritime precautions
Currently, conditions on our coasts remain stable with swells ranging between two and four feet. However, starting Friday, visibility could be reduced due to adverse weather conditions. Therefore, operators of small and fragile vessels are urged to strictly follow safety measures and monitor sea conditions due to the possibility of locally elevated swells over the weekend.
