Coercive measure hearing postponed for alleged millionaire fraud at Senasa
The Dominican justice system has scheduled for this Monday at 2:00 p.m. the hearing where the request for coercive measures against 25 people involved in an alleged corruption and fraud scheme to the detriment of the National Health Insurance (Senasa) will be heard. The judicial process seeks to clarify an embezzlement that, according to preliminary investigations, exceeds 40 million pesos.
Case details
The Public Ministry, under the direction of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for the Prosecution of Administrative Corruption (Pepca), formally filed the motion last Saturday night. The file, which consists of 525 pages, details the accusations and evidence collected by a team of prosecutors led by Mirna Ortiz, Yudelka Holguín, Héctor García, Rosa Alba García, Emmanuel Ramírez, and Ernesto Guzmán Alberto.
Given the gravity of the events, the authorities have requested 18 months of pretrial detention for those involved, in addition to requiring that the case be declared a complex process due to the magnitude of the operating network and the number of people involved.
