Relatives defend police corporal involved in teenager’s death in Mendoza
The case that has shocked the Mendoza sector, in Santo Domingo East, following the death of a 14-year-old teenager, remains under investigation. Amidst the judicial proceedings, the grandmother of National Police corporal Edwin de los Santos Guerrero, identified as the primary person responsible for the incident, has broken her silence to offer her version regarding her grandson’s conduct.
Sorayda Tolentino Díaz, the officer’s grandmother, stated that the young man led an exemplary life, far removed from any illicit activity. According to her account, on the day of the incident, she was in her residence when she heard a detonation, but she clarified that she did not witness the exact moment of the events, remaining inside the home after the loud noise.

According to his grandmother’s testimony, Edwin de los Santos Guerrero maintained behavior focused on his family core and his work responsibilities. The lady highlighted that the young man, in addition to serving in the ranks of the National Police, actively collaborated in the family businesses under his father’s supervision.
Status of the judicial process
The tragic event, which resulted in the death of the 14-year-old minor at a residence on 4th Street in the Mendoza sector, has prompted the initiation of an exhaustive investigation by the competent authorities.
Currently, Corporal De los Santos Guerrero is in the custody of the law enforcement institution. The spokesperson for the National Police, Diego Pesqueira, confirmed that investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death and to proceed with the corresponding legal measures.
