Road operations: INTRANT and DIGESETT reinforce control against motorcyclists in Greater Santo Domingo
With the goal of reducing traffic accidents and ensuring order in traffic, the National Institute of Transit and Land Transportation (INTRANT) and the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Safety (DIGESETT) have intensified their enforcement operations at the most critical points of the Dominican capital.
During the most recent operations, carried out with the support of the Preventive Police, the authorities intervened with more than 82 motorcyclists. Among the most common offenses recorded are running red lights, performing prohibited maneuvers, and the absence of a protective helmet, which are fundamental elements for the safety of drivers.
Intervened strategic points
Control actions were concentrated at high-traffic intersections, where the incidence of traffic violations is higher. The points intervened included:
- Winston Churchill Avenue at 27 de Febrero.
- Defilló Avenue at John F. Kennedy.
- Máximo Gómez Avenue at 27 de Febrero.
- Leopoldo Navarro Avenue at 27 de Febrero.
- Máximo Gómez Avenue at John F. Kennedy.
These measures seek to organize traffic, enforce Law 63-17 on Mobility, Land Transportation, Traffic and Road Safety, and, above all, contribute to reducing the rate of deaths and injuries caused by road accidents.

Commitment to road safety
The authorities have been emphatic in pointing out that these controls will be constant and will be extended to other strategic sectors of Greater Santo Domingo. The purpose is for compliance with traffic regulations—such as respecting the direction of traffic, the use of sidewalks, and road signs—to become a habitual behavior for all citizens.
Through this articulated management, INTRANT and DIGESETT reaffirm their commitment to strengthening street safety, working permanently to foster a culture of prevention and respect for current regulations throughout the national territory.
