Gonzalo Castillo proposes accelerating public investments in San Cristóbal after provincial tour
The presidential candidate for the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Gonzalo Castillo, carried out a workday this Saturday across eight locations in the province of San Cristóbal. During his direct contact with residents, he identified the priority issues affecting these communities and emphasized the urgency of boosting state investment to improve the quality of life for the inhabitants.
The route included visits to Villa Altagracia, La Cuchilla, Medina, Hato Dama, El Carril, Haina, Nigua, and the main municipality of San Cristóbal. At each stop, Castillo heard firsthand the concerns of the citizens, who expressed their worry regarding the increase in insecurity, recurring failures in energy service, the high cost of electricity bills, the scarcity of drinking water, and the limitations in accessing job opportunities, especially for young people and women.
To govern is to solve. The country needs a way of doing politics centered on respect, decency, and the search for concrete solutions to build greater opportunities for everyone.

Analysis of budget execution
One of the critical points highlighted by the political leader was the low execution of public funds allocated to the province. Based on official reports from the General Directorate of the Budget, Castillo denounced that, as of October 2, 2026, several vital infrastructure projects for the region showed worrying levels of progress:
- Of 13 investment projects with a budget of 82 million pesos, no execution was recorded.
- Out of a total budget of 2.875 billion pesos allocated for works in the province, nearly 29 percent remained unexecuted.
Faced with this situation, the presidential candidate urged the authorities to expedite construction processes for fundamental works, highlighting the need to complete the Health City, expand the Villa Altagracia aqueduct, and execute plans for the repair of streets and storm drainage systems.
Finally, Castillo pointed out that his government proposal is based on a vision of comprehensive development, where low-cost financing for the agricultural sector and the strengthening of local infrastructure are the keys to generating decent jobs and increasing the income of Dominican families throughout the national territory.
