Jake Holton returns to the Gigantes del Cibao for the 2024-2025 LIDOM season
The Gigantes del Cibao have confirmed the return of American first baseman Jake Holton, who is once again shaping up to be a key piece in the team’s offensive scheme for the upcoming Dominican Professional Baseball League (LIDOM) season.
After a highly productive first stint with the San Francisco de Macorís team, the team’s management has decided to secure his presence, betting on the consistency and the knowledge the player already possesses regarding pitching in the Dominican winter circuit.
A high-impact debut
Holton, 28, left an indelible mark in his debut with the franchise. In just 12 games, the right-handed slugger exhibited outstanding offensive ability, recording statistics that give the Colts’ fanbase reason to be excited:
- .419 batting average in 51 plate appearances.
- 18 hits, including two home runs and five doubles.
- 8 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
- An on-base percentage (OBP) of .510 and an OPS of 1.184.
- Notable effectiveness against left-handed pitchers, averaging .455 against them.

Continuity in its development
The player arrives at LIDOM after a season of constant activity in the United States, where he was part of the Sacramento River Cats, the Triple-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. At that level, Holton gained experience in 74 games, totaling 12 doubles, six home runs, and 44 RBIs, while maintaining his plate discipline with 48 walks received.
With this signing, the Gigantes del Cibao strengthen their import structure, seeking to consolidate a competitive team from the first day of action. Holton’s ability to play first base and his proven skill at driving in runs make him one of the organization’s most strategic moves heading into the new tournament.
