Garibaldy Bautista urges a “vote of conscience with memory” in the Dominican Olympic Committee elections

Ahead of the upcoming Dominican Olympic Committee (COD) elections, scheduled for December 2, the current president of the entity, Garibaldy Bautista, called on the leaders of the national sports movement to exercise their right to vote based on criteria of responsibility and deep analysis of the current management.

Bautista aligned himself with the positions expressed by leaders Gilberto García and William Ozuna, emphasizing that the presidents of the various federations must evaluate the tangible results achieved during their tenure when heading to the polls.

We support the conscience vote, but let it be a conscience vote with memory.

Financial achievements and structural improvements

The head of the COD stressed that one of the greatest milestones of his administration was the financial cleanup of the institution. According to his statements, the organization was received with a deficit of 28 million pesos, a situation that has been reversed to guarantee current economic stability.

In addition to financial health, Bautista listed a series of improvements in the Olympic Committee’s infrastructure and logistics:

  • Total renewal of the vehicle fleet.
  • Comprehensive remodeling of the Juan Ulises García Saleta hall.
  • Optimization of the employee cafeteria and air conditioning of areas.
  • Waterproofing of roofs and adaptation of parking lots.

International relations and the future of the Olympic cycle

The leader also highlighted the strengthening of ties with international organizations such as the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Panam Sports, and Centro Caribe Sports. These bonds have allowed for the signing of collaboration agreements with nations such as Spain, Germany, Brazil, and Argentina, directly benefiting the technical preparation of Dominican athletes.

The electoral process, which will define the Executive Committee for the 2026-2030 cycle, will be supervised by an electoral commission headed by Dionisio Guzmán, along with Jorge Torres and Rafael Villalona, who were ratified unanimously in an assembly of federations.

Although Bautista has maintained a schedule of meetings with various federations, he has not yet publicly confirmed whether he will present his candidacy for re-election, reiterating that the priority for the sports movement is to preserve the institutionality and stability achieved by the organization.
