Edgar Alma and Eloy Núñez conquer the XXVII British Golf Cup
The prestigious Dye Fore Golf Course, located in Casa de Campo, La Romana, was the setting for the twenty-seventh edition of the British Golf Cup (Royal Cup). This event, organized annually by the British Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (BRITCHAMRD), brought together 120 golfers who competed in categories A, B, and C in a day marked by sporting excellence.
The duo composed of Edgar Alma and Eloy Núñez took the title of absolute champions by recording the best gross score overall with 67 gross strokes. Thanks to this performance, their names were engraved on the main cup and they received as an award replicas of the iconic “The Claret Jug” trophy, a historic symbol of The Open Championship.
This edition has a very special institutional significance, as it is the first major event we are celebrating after our General Assembly, marking the beginning of a new stage for the newly formed Board of Directors of BritChamDR, a commitment we assume with a deep sense of responsibility and institutional continuity.

Tournament honor roll
The competition stood out for its high technical level in its different divisions:
- Category A: Jan Giha and Robert Ray Torres (1st place), Freddy Almonte and Steven Sabo (2nd place), Carlos Romero and Julio Cross (3rd place).
- Category B: Joaquín Montero and Luis Castellanos (1st place), Pedro Oller and Carlos Oller (2nd place), Emilio Chea and Erick Read (3rd place).
- Category C: Miguel Fernández and José Olivero (1st place), Luis Mesa and Melvin Gil (2nd place), Luis Carlos Tejada and Ernesto Martínez (3rd place).
In addition, special prizes were awarded to Luis Mesa for the Longest Drive (hole 8) and to Shalim Tejeda for the closest to the pin (hole 12). The day concluded with an awards lunch at the Dye Fore driving range, where participants enjoyed an atmosphere of camaraderie and raffles for various items.
The success of the twenty-seventh Royal Cup was made possible thanks to the support of an extensive group of leading companies in the country, including Central Romana Corporation, Casa de Campo Resort & Villas, Banreservas, Mercedes-Benz, among many other organizations that support the development of golf in the Dominican Republic.
