Fire affects facilities of the Hotel Plaza El Oasis in Santo Domingo Norte
A major fire was reported this Saturday afternoon at the Hotel Plaza El Oasis facilities, an establishment located on the Hacienda Estrella highway, within the Haras Nacionales sector in Santo Domingo Norte. The incident immediately mobilized various units of the local Fire Department to contain the spread of the flames.
The extinguishing efforts were personally directed by the general fire chief, Fernando López Nicasio, who coordinated the operational deployment to safeguard the structure and prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent areas, managing to control the situation after arduous work.
Incident details and preliminary balance
The incident generated a dense column of smoke that was visible from different points in the area, causing alarm among nearby residents. According to preliminary reports, the fire caused considerable material damage to the hotel complex’s infrastructure. Fortunately, no fatalities or injuries have been reported so far as a result of the event.
Humberto García, the complex’s administrator, confirmed that the establishment has a payroll of more than 30 employees and housed three commercial premises that operated within its facilities.
After controlling the fire, emergency teams remained at the scene carrying out cooling and debris removal work with the aim of securing the area and ruling out any risk of the flames reigniting.

So far, the competent authorities have not determined the origin of the incident. The case remains under an open investigation to clarify the exact causes that led to the fire at Plaza El Oasis, so a detailed technical report is expected in the coming days as the inquiries progress.
