Motor Crédito maintains “A” solvency rating with stable outlook according to Feller Rate

The rating agency Feller Rate has ratified the “A” solvency rating for Motor Crédito, S.A. Banco de Ahorro y Crédito, maintaining a stable outlook following its evaluation corresponding to July 2026. This recognition reaffirms the entity’s position within the Dominican financial sector.

According to the technical report, the positive assessment responds to the institution’s consolidated leadership in its market segment, its efficient capacity to generate operating results, and a solid equity backing that aligns with its current operating levels.

Leadership in the automotive sector

At the close of June 2026, Motor Crédito reaffirmed its dominance in the savings and credit bank market, standing out in the following indicators:

  • First place in total market share for placements with 22.5%.
  • Leading position in used vehicle financing, reaching a 36% share.

Financial strength and portfolio quality

The financial results presented by the entity demonstrate balanced management. At the conclusion of the first half of 2026, the institution recorded a result before taxes of RD$379 million. Likewise, its annualized return on total assets averaged 4.2%, remaining at competitive levels compared to the banking system.

Regarding its solvency, the regulatory index stood at 17.6% as of May 2026, significantly exceeding the required minimum of 10%. On the other hand, the quality of the credit portfolio remained under control, with a non-performing loan ratio of 1.4% and a robust provision coverage of 1.6 times, supported mainly by real guarantees of the financed vehicles.
