Young man dies after alleged confrontation with Dicrim agents in Peralvillo
A man identified as Esteban Muñoz, popularly known as Valentín, lost his life this Wednesday after a confusing incident with agents of the Central Directorate of Investigation (Dicrim) in the La Cuaba community, belonging to the municipality of Peralvillo.
Muñoz, 26, was seriously injured during the police deployment. Following the incident, he was rushed to the Yamasá Municipal Hospital to receive medical assistance; however, he passed away while medical staff were attempting to stabilize him.
Ongoing research
Currently, Muñoz’s body remains at the hospital’s morgue awaiting the corresponding legal procedures. Meanwhile, officers from the National Police and Dicrim maintain a presence at the scene to further the investigation and determine how the altercation occurred.
So far, the authorities have not issued an official report clarifying the details of the operation, the reasons that motivated the agents’ intervention, or the exact circumstances under which the exchange of gunfire that resulted in the fatal outcome occurred. It is expected that in the coming hours, the law enforcement institution will provide more information on the case.
