Strategic alliance: National School of the Judiciary and WCA-RD promote training in Criminal Compliance
The National School of the Judiciary (ENJ) and the World Compliance Association, Dominican Republic Chapter (WCA-RD), have formalized a strategic alliance aimed at raising the standards of legal training in the country. This cooperation agreement focuses on the development of specialized programs in Criminal Compliance, including the launch of the first expert program in this area, designed through a joint effort between both organizations.
The agreement was signed by Ángel Brito, director of the ENJ, and Tania de León, president of the WCA-RD. The initiative not only covers the training of judges, but is also aimed at practicing lawyers, law students, and the entire legal community, featuring the participation of high-level national and international professors.
Scope and objectives of the collaboration
- Design and execution of training programs, diploma courses, workshops, and conferences.
- Exchange of scientific materials, jurisprudence, and specialized publications.
- Collaboration on academic research projects.
- Creation of a monitoring commission to evaluate the development of the programs.
This is a favorable moment to promote the training of judges on the subject with the new Penal Code and thus provide knowledge on the matter in the territory.

For her part, Tania de León underscored the relevance of magistrates in consolidating a culture of regulatory compliance. According to the president of the WCA-RD, the judge becomes an essential actor for navigating the new regulatory context introduced by the Penal Code in the Dominican Republic.
In this same vein, Babaji Cruz Peñaló, secretary general of the WCA-RD, highlighted that this agreement seeks to provide justice system operators with advanced technical tools. The objective is for legal professionals to be able to respond with solvency to the emerging challenges posed by the application of the current penal framework, combining academic theory with professional practice.
