Citizens support bill that would limit adoptions to same-sex couples in the Dominican Republic
The debate over the General Adoption Bill has gained momentum in the Dominican Republic, especially regarding the restriction that would prevent the adoption of minors by same-sex couples. Various citizens have expressed their firm support for this initiative, arguing that the traditional family structure, composed of a father and a mother, is fundamental for the integral development of children.
The positions in favor of this limitation are deeply rooted in religious convictions and family values that, according to those interviewed, should prevail in national legislation. For a large part of the population consulted, the priority is to ensure that minors are raised under a model that they consider to be in accordance with their moral principles.

Among the arguments presented by the citizens, the following points stand out:
- The preservation of traditional values as the foundation of society.
- The importance of the father and mother figure in the upbringing of minors.

For their part, other citizens, such as Nancy Margarita Fernández, emphasized that, while they respect the personal decisions of individuals, they maintain a firm stance regarding adoption. Fernández stressed that her rejection is due to concern about the example that, from her perspective, would be transmitted to future generations.
Likewise, Josué Durán pointed out that his position is directly influenced by his Christian faith, reiterating that for him the presence of both parental roles is essential in human development. This view is shared by other sectors of civil society that are closely following the legislative process in Congress.
The General Adoption Bill project continues to be a highly sensitive issue in the country. Public discussion reflects a clear trend among sectors advocating for maintaining adoption standards linked to the traditional family, marking a milestone in the legislative agenda regarding child protection and national values.
