Dominicanos Primero proposes military service and comprehensive training for young people
The Dominicanos Primero movement has put on the table an innovative proposal that seeks to transform the last two years of secondary education in the Dominican Republic. The initiative contemplates the implementation of a mandatory service designed to strengthen discipline, civic education, and vocational guidance for students.
Far from focusing solely on military training, the project seeks for young people to have access to a comprehensive system that includes psychological support, aptitude assessment, and clear guidance toward their academic and professional future.
Constitutional foundations
The organization bases its approach on Article 75 of the Constitution of the Dominican Republic, which establishes among civic duties the provision of civil and military services necessary for the defense and preservation of the nation. This regulation opens the door to development programs for young people between 16 and 21 years of age, always under a regulatory framework that Congress must define.
More than military discipline
The main objective is to prevent students from entering university out of inertia, by offering them tools that allow them to identify their real capabilities. According to the promoters of the movement, this program seeks to turn discipline into a habit and values into daily conduct.
