Dominican Republic climbs positions in the WBSC world baseball ranking

Dominican baseball continues to consolidate itself as a global powerhouse. According to the latest update of the men’s world ranking published by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) this October 8, 2026, the Dominican Republic has achieved a significant rise, moving from tenth to eighth place with a total of 2,737 points.

This two-place jump represents the most notable advance among the top ten national teams in the world. According to the international body, this progress is the direct result of the national team’s historic performance in the 2026 U-15 Baseball World Cup, where the Dominicans took home the silver medal.

A year of high performance

Beyond the general standing, the numbers support the great year that the king of sports is experiencing in the country. During 2026, the Dominican representation has added 1,369 units, placing itself as the third team with the highest point harvest of the year, only surpassed by Japan (1,493) and the United States (1,413). This record places the Dominican Republic above powers such as Venezuela, Chinese Taipei, and South Korea in terms of productivity for the current calendar.

The Dominican rise reaffirms the progress of national baseball on the international stage, driven by the results obtained in competitions across different categories and, especially, by the outstanding performance of its youth team in the U-15 World Cup.

With this update, the Dominican Republic positions itself as the fifth best national team on the American continent. In the regional ranking, the national team follows the United States, Venezuela, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. The standings in the zone are detailed as follows:
