Toronto Blue Jays inaugurate the Hall of Excellence with legendary figures
The Rogers Centre has welcomed a new milestone in its history with the inauguration of the Toronto Blue Jays Level of Excellence. This space, strategically located on the 100 Level of the stadium, pays tribute to twelve iconic figures who have defined the organization’s legacy over its five decades of history.
Among the honored athletes, Caribbean talent shines with its own light. Dominicans George Bell, José Bautista, and Tony “Cabeza” Fernández, along with Puerto Rican Carlos Delgado, stand as fundamental pillars of this select group. The list of honorees is completed by Dave Stieb, Joe Carter, Cito Gaston, Paul Beeston, Pat Gillick, Roy Halladay, Tom Cheek, and Buck Martínez, who was formally inducted during the opening ceremony.
A space to preserve the legacy
The Hall of Excellence is not just a museum, but a bridge between past glories and the new generation of fans. Through detailed curation, followers can explore the club’s evolution through unique historical objects, such as Carlos Delgado’s notebook on opposing pitchers and the microphone of the iconic broadcaster Tom Cheek.

For his part, Carlos Delgado emphasized the relevance of this recognition as they reach half a century of existence: “It’s fantastic. It’s very important to remember the history of our franchise. They talk about us as a new franchise, but it’s already been 50 years.”
Fan participation
The exhibition also features display cases dedicated to Gold Glove and Silver Slugger winners, establishing itself as a permanent home for the team’s achievements. Mark Shapiro, president and CEO of the franchise, highlighted that the venue will serve to honor the leaders who built the foundations of the Blue Jays.
