The Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Caracas resumes its functions
After a period of inactivity that lasted for more than two years, the Consulate General of the Dominican Republic in Caracas has reopened its doors, officially restoring services to Dominican citizens residing in Venezuelan territory.
This reopening puts an end to the suspension of services that originated following diplomatic tensions between both nations, derived from the presidential electoral process in Venezuela held in July 2024. At that time, Santo Domingo’s critical stance regarding the official results led to the temporary closure of the consular office.
Services available to the community
Under the leadership of Consul General Héctor Pastor Vásquez, the consular office has resumed full operations, allowing Dominicans to once again manage their documents and legal procedures without setbacks. The range of services includes:
- Processing and renewal of passports.
- Issuance of travel documents (letters of route).
- Management of powers of attorney.
- Issuance of travel authorizations.
- Official registration of Dominican citizens abroad.
Consular representation is not limited only to administrative procedures, but also guarantees the necessary assistance and protection to all Dominicans who require institutional support in particular situations in Venezuela.
With this step, the diplomatic presence and support for fellow citizens are normalized, as they now have a direct and efficient channel once again in the Venezuelan capital to resolve their immigration and legal needs.
