COE raises to eight the number of provinces on green alert due to adverse weather conditions
The Emergency Operations Center (COE) has taken preventive measures by extending the green alert for eight provinces of the country. This decision is in response to the incidence of a trough that, combined with high humidity and local effects, will cause downpours, thunderstorms, and wind gusts across much of the national territory.
According to the official bulletin issued this Thursday, rainfall is expected to intensify over the next few hours, with moderate-intensity downpours that could affect citizens’ daily routines.
Provinces under surveillance
The preventive measure seeks to alert the population to the risk of possible flooding of rivers, streams, and creeks. The provinces that are under this alert level are:
- Greater Santo Domingo
- National District
- San Cristóbal (specifically the northern area)
- Monte Plata
- Monseñor Nouel
- San Pedro de Macorís
- Hato Mayor
- Sánchez Ramírez
The green alert level means that the population must remain informed and attentive to any changes in weather conditions, closely following the recommendations of relief agencies.

Recommendations for citizens
Given this scenario, the authorities urge citizens to take fundamental precautions to safeguard their physical integrity:
- Review and update family emergency plans and supply backpacks.
- Avoid crossing rivers, streams, and ravines that have high water levels, regardless of the area.
- Stay informed about official reports issued by the COE.
- In situations of imminent risk, contact the 9-1-1 National Emergency and Security Response System immediately.
Alofoke Deportes recommends its followers to follow the instructions of the competent authorities and to stay sheltered in light of the bad weather forecast.
