Tragedy in Yamasá: Woman loses her life at the hands of her ex-partner in Monte Plata
A regrettable incident of gender-based violence has shocked the community of La Colorada, in the municipality of Yamasá, Monte Plata province. The victim, identified as Aurelina Valdez, passed away after being attacked with a firearm by her former romantic partner.
According to preliminary reports, the assailant, unofficially identified as “El Piñero,” intercepted the woman and shot her several times, then fled in an unknown direction. During the attack, Valdez’s mother was also affected after receiving a gunshot wound to one of her arms; she was immediately taken to a local health center to receive the necessary medical attention.
Authorities deploy search operation
After the incident became known, agents of the National Police and members of the Central Directorate of Investigation (Dicrim) arrived at the scene to begin the corresponding investigations. The removal of the body was carried out in coordination with the medical examiner and representatives of the Public Ministry, who are working on collecting evidence to clarify the details of this crime.
The authorities maintain an active deployment to locate the alleged aggressor, who has remained at large since the incident occurred.
This tragic episode has caused great dismay in the towns of La Colorada and La Cuesta del Jobo, the place of origin of the deceased. The investigation remains open and it is expected that, as intelligence work progresses, the authorities will offer a detailed report on the capture of the person responsible and the motives that triggered this fatal outcome.
