Lorenzo Ramírez, general director of the institution, explained that this financial support, guaranteed by Banreservas, seeks to provide peace of mind to Dominican families in difficult situations. The policy is specifically designed to cover expenses derived from the death of a Dominican citizen outside the country.

The insurance included with the issuance of the document provides various options for family members, adapting to their needs and personal decisions following the passing. Among the services covered are:
- Repatriation of mortal remains to the Dominican Republic.
- Cremation services, in case the family members opt for this alternative.
- Management and holding of wakes, in accordance with the conditions stipulated by the insurance entity.
This insurance constitutes one of the fundamental pillars of the new benefits associated with the passport, which has an extended validity of 10 years for the greater convenience of users.
