Medical-social operation impacts hundreds of people in Higüey
The Directorate of Social Assistance and Community Food (DASAC) deployed a large-scale operation in the municipality of Higüey, La Altagracia province, with the purpose of bringing health services and comprehensive care to people with disabilities and their family units. This initiative is part of the institution’s ongoing efforts to bring well-being to the country’s most vulnerable sectors.
Edgar Augusto Féliz Arbona, Director General of DASAC, emphasized that these sessions represent a comprehensive intervention. Beyond medical care, the program seeks to identify households that need to be integrated into the DASAC Family Program, in addition to evaluating the delivery of appliances, household goods, and home repairs to improve the quality of life for citizens.
We, through our Community Medical Center, travel anywhere to bring health, but we also evaluate families to be included in the DASAC Family Program and to be provided with the necessary household goods and appliances and the improvement of their homes. It is a comprehensive intervention that we carry out.

Matchday results in La Altagracia
The success of the activity was highlighted by Dameyby Polanco, head of the Community Medical Center, who emphasized the high turnout of citizens seeking specialized assistance. During the operation, the following milestones were achieved:
- More than 600 people attended to in various medical and dental specialties.
- Delivery of medications completely free of charge.
- Distribution of food ration kits and cleaning products.
- Provision of mobility devices, including wheelchairs, canes, and crutches.
- Delivery of maternity kits for pregnant women.
The event featured the strategic collaboration of the Changing the World for People with Disabilities Foundation (CEMDPCD), presided over by Raquel Quezada. During the meeting, data was also collected to include new families in the monthly food assistance programs, and housing conditions were evaluated for future roof repair projects, reaffirming the institution’s commitment to social development promoted by the central government.
