Police operations in La Romana result in arrests and seizure of illicit substances

The National Police, through the Provincial Intelligence Division (DINTEL), carried out a series of strategic operations in various sectors of La Romana, achieving the capture of two individuals and the seizure of alleged controlled substances. These actions are part of the prevention and anti-drug trafficking agenda in the province.

Intervention details

The authorities reported that the actions were carried out at critical points in the city, obtaining the following results:

  • Villa Pereyra Sector: A man was captured in possession of four portions of a rocky material, presumably cocaine.
  • La Aviación Sector: A second suspect was arrested, from whom two additional portions of the same substance were seized.
  • Julio A. García Street: During a preventive patrol, officers found an abandoned wallet containing 37 portions of a green vegetable, presumed to be marijuana, in addition to the sum of RD$250 in cash.

Regarding the discovery on Julio A. García street, the police report details that the suspect managed to escape upon noticing the presence of the officers. Currently, security forces are maintaining active investigation efforts to locate the individual’s whereabouts and proceed with their capture.

The detainees, along with the collected evidence, have been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for the corresponding legal purposes, reaffirming the commitment to maintain order and security in the intervened sectors.
