Blow to micro-trafficking: DNCD dismantles networks in Santiago and Puerto Plata with 63 arrests
In a forceful effort to strengthen citizen security, the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD) and the Public Ministry have intensified their intelligence and operational work in the northern part of the country. As a result of these strategic actions, 63 individuals linked to micro-trafficking were captured and more than 12,797 grams of various narcotic substances were seized.
During the last week, the authorities executed a total of 459 operations and 15 strategic raids, managing to dismantle drug sales points that were operating in vulnerable sectors of Santiago and Puerto Plata, directly affecting the distribution logistics of these criminal organizations.
These strategic interventions, executed simultaneously in Santiago and Puerto Plata, aim to attack, pursue, and eradicate points of sale for controlled substances, capture the main leaders of these networks, and maintain control and security in the neighborhoods of the northern region of the country.
Operating results in Puerto Plata
The province of Puerto Plata was the scene of 145 operations and 10 raids, resulting in the arrest of 30 people. The actions were concentrated in key sectors such as Los Sufridos, Cristo Rey, Padre Las Casas, Cofresí, Los Callejones, La 30 and Las Piedras in Sosúa, in addition to interventions in Cabarete and Sabaneta de Yásica.
- Cocaine: 1,511.6 grams.
- Marijuana: 377.3 grams.
- Crack: 900 milligrams.
- Seized assets: Two motorcycles, cash, and communication equipment.
Impact in Santiago
In Santiago, the Operational Division intensified pressure with 314 operations and five far-reaching raids, managing to arrest 33 people. The tactical work reached sectors such as Bella Vista, Ensanche Libertad, La Villa Olímpica, Hato del Yaque, Arroyo Hondo, as well as the municipalities of Navarrete, Villa González, and Tamboril.
- Cocaine: 10,559.2 grams.
- Marijuana: 332 grams.
- Crack: 16 grams.
- Seized logistics: A bulletproof vest, bladed weapons, precision scales, and motorcycles.
All those detained, along with the collected evidence, have been placed at the disposal of the Public Ministry for the corresponding legal purposes. These actions, led by the Joint Task Force (FTC), reaffirm the authorities’ commitment to dismantling criminal structures and ensuring the tranquility of families in the northern region of the Dominican Republic.
