Danilo Medina activates the PLD in Barahona with his sights set on the 2028 elections
The former President of the Republic and current leader of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Danilo Medina, led an important political assembly at the Villa Olímpica in Villa Central, Barahona. During the meeting, he made a forceful call to the purple militancy to immediately begin the strategic work that will allow them to return to power in the 2028 elections.
Medina emphasized that the PLD is undergoing a process of internal renewal and strengthening, which positions the organization in a competitive place to face upcoming electoral challenges. According to the former president, the main objective is to displace the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM) from the state administration.
Criticism of current management
During his speech, the political leader questioned the results of the current government’s management. Medina argued that the incumbent government has exhausted its capacity to respond and that the Dominican people should not expect new solutions from an administration that, in his view, has completed its cycle.

Preparation towards 2028
The political leader highlighted that there are 23 months remaining in the current administration, a period that the Dominican Liberation Party must take advantage of to consolidate its structure and attract new supporters. In that sense, the assembly in Barahona served as the setting for the swearing-in of 1,150 new members who are joining the party’s ranks.
