Chamber of Accounts joins the 2026 National Earthquake Evacuation Drill

The Chamber of Accounts of the Dominican Republic (CCRD) actively participated this Tuesday in the 2026 National Earthquake Evacuation Drill. The event, coordinated by the Dominican government through the Emergency Operations Center (COE), sought to optimize the reaction capacity of public servants in the face of seismic phenomena.

The preventive exercise, carried out at 10:00 in the morning, allowed all institution personnel to leave the offices in an orderly manner toward the previously established meeting points, testing the effectiveness of internal security protocols.

These types of activities are fundamental for identifying opportunities for improvement and strengthening our response mechanisms, ensuring that every collaborator knows how to act quickly and safely in the event of a real incident.

Emma Polanco Melo, President of the CCRD

Positive results in the evacuation

During the development of the drill, not only the response time was evaluated, but also the efficiency of the evacuation routes. The technical and administrative staff demonstrated discipline and knowledge of emergency procedures, reinforcing the necessary preventive measures in the event of an earthquake.

The senior officer of the National District Fire Department, Ángel Luis Frómeta Artiles, supervised the operation and highlighted the effectiveness of the exercise at the Chamber of Accounts headquarters:

  • Excellent evacuation time recorded.
  • Efficient organization of staff given the number of collaborators present.
  • Strict compliance with safety protocols.

With this participation, the Chamber of Accounts reaffirms its commitment to comprehensive risk management and occupational safety, promoting a culture of prevention that is vital to safeguarding lives and ensuring the continuity of operations in the face of any seismic event in the national territory.
