- 1963: President Juan Bosch requests an urgent meeting with U.S. Ambassador John Bartlow Martin in light of the growing political crisis of his term.
- 1964: Hurricane Cleo, a category five storm, strikes the southern part of the Barahona peninsula, leaving a tragic toll of human losses and material damage.
- 1988: The remains of Pedro Henríquez Ureña and his mother, Salomé Ureña, are transferred to the National Pantheon.
