Military strengthening: Luis Abinader shows technological advances of the Armed Forces to Nasry Asfura
In a strategic meeting aimed at strengthening regional cooperation ties, President Luis Abinader received the President of Honduras, Nasry Asfura Zablah, this Saturday. The official visit, which is taking place this weekend on Dominican territory, had as a key point a tour of the San Isidro Air Base.
During the day, the Dominican head of state presented to the Honduran leader the significant progress achieved in terms of defense. Among the equipment exhibited, the TP-75 Dulus aircraft and the FURIA armored vehicles stood out, both engineering projects assembled entirely in the Dominican Republic.
Innovation and sovereignty in the military industry
The modernization of the Dominican Republic Air Force has found a fundamental pillar in the TP-75 Dulus. These aircraft, manufactured at the San Isidro Air Base, are designed to optimize training tasks and light patrolling, reinforcing the country’s technical capacity in the face of new security challenges.
On the other hand, the FURIA armored vehicles have established themselves as the standard-bearer of the Dominican Military Industry. These units, whose assembly has maintained a steady pace throughout 2026, are key pieces for strengthening response capacity and national security.
Asfura Zablah’s visit is a key opportunity to exchange experiences regarding security, defense, and bilateral cooperation, consolidating relations between both nations.
Bilateral work agenda
The official agenda of the Honduran president in the Dominican Republic spans two days and covers various points of mutual interest. In addition to protocol activities and high-level meetings for the signing of collaboration instruments, the itinerary includes a tour of the Dajabón border area, allowing the Central American leader to see firsthand the security protocols implemented at the border.
This meeting underscores the Dominican Government’s interest in projecting its technological capacity and strengthening strategic alliances with countries in the region, betting on industrial sovereignty in the defense sector.
