President Abinader oversees improvements at the San Francisco de Asís Nursing Home
President Luis Abinader paid an official visit to the San Francisco de Asís Nursing Home this Wednesday, with the goal of inspecting the renovation of six key areas of the center. These interventions, carried out by the Ministry of the Presidency, seek to optimize the quality of life and care conditions for the 186 elderly residents living in this institution.
The renovations, located at kilometer 12 of the Sánchez highway, included the adaptation of pavilions, the gymnasium, the infirmary, special care areas, and a significant expansion of the Women’s Psychiatry department. These works were carried out by Constructora HAGECO, under the supervision of a specialized technical team.
Recognition of social work
During the tour, the president highlighted the invaluable work of the Little Sisters of the Abandoned Elderly, the congregation responsible for the daily care of the residents. Abinader emphasized that, beyond the economic investment, the true value of the work lies in the positive impact it generates on the well-being and dignity of the elderly.

Institutional gratitude
The director of the home, Mother Eugenia López Rodríguez, deeply appreciated the Head of State’s sensitivity in addressing the center’s urgent needs. The nun highlighted that what seemed like a difficult dream to achieve has transformed into a reality that guarantees more humane and dignified treatment for those who live in the residence.

Also present at the event were Luis Mejía Oviedo, president of Centro Caribe Sports, who highlighted the president’s personal commitment to this cause, and Monsignor Carlos Tomás Morel Diplán, coadjutor archbishop of Santo Domingo, who was in charge of blessing the new facilities. The day also featured the participation of Demetrio Antonio Vicente, executive director of the National Council for the Aging Person (CONAPE).
