Government boost: President Abinader prioritizes stalled municipal works

President Luis Abinader has taken a leading role in resolving the problems affecting local governments, directly assuming supervision of stalled municipal works and the critical needs of city councils throughout the national territory.

Víctor D’Aza, secretary general of the Dominican Municipal League (LMD), reported that the president has implemented an immediate response mechanism. During the work meetings, the head of state directly instructs the competent ministers and general directors to address the demands presented by the mayors, ensuring that no request remains without an effective response from the central government.

Efficient management and constant monitoring

The process, as detailed by D’Aza, consists of a detailed survey of the shortcomings of each municipality. In these meetings, the status of ongoing projects is evaluated, the causes of the stoppages are identified, and the necessary solutions to resume the work are established.

The president calls the corresponding ministers and general directors to follow up on the claims of local governments and ensure that communities receive the works they need.

Impact on communities

This work dynamic has allowed for the prioritization of high social impact infrastructure, such as:

  • Construction and adaptation of municipal cemeteries and funeral homes.
  • Modernization of markets and slaughterhouses.
  • Execution of paving plans, construction of sidewalks and curbs.

The Dominican Municipal League maintains a constant deployment throughout the territory to transform the needs of the municipalities into viable and concrete projects. As evidence of this support, the upcoming inauguration of a funeral home in San Francisco de Los Cocos de Jacagua and the delivery of a similar project in the municipality of Tamboril were announced.

D’Aza highlighted that, thanks to President Abinader’s commitment, the LMD will continue working shoulder to shoulder with the municipalities to ensure that vital works for the development of the communities become a reality in the shortest possible time.
